Stephen C. Daves

Knoxville lawyer Steve Daves is a native of Blount County, TN. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1967 with a B.S. in Business Administration. He served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971, achieving the rank of Captain. Steve graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1971. He was admitted to the practice of law in April of 1974.

Steve joined O’Neil, Parker and Williamson in 1972 while a student in law school and has practiced with the firm continuously for over 40 years.

Steve’s practice is in trial work, with emphasis in the defense of medical malpractice and legal malpractice cases. His experience also includes product liability, construction litigation, premises liability, amusement park litigation, and a variety of other general negligence actions. He practices in State and Federal trial and appellate courts.

Steve has served as lead counsel in a wide range of complex cases in these areas in State and Federal Courts. Steve has been recognized by his peers with an AV Preeminent ranking by Martindale-Hubbell for over 20 years. He has been recognized by the CityView survey as a “top attorney” in the City of Knoxville in the areas of medical malpractice, professional malpractice and products liability. He handles cases for, among others, the University of Tennessee Medical Center, State Volunteer Mutual Insurance Company, and the Hanover Insurance Company.

Steve has served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Knoxville Bar Association. He has also served as a Hearing Officer for the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility. he was a member of the Board of Directors of Asbury Place Senior Living and the East Tennessee Children’s Rehabilitation Center.
